"Dr. Merose Hwang is an Associate Professor of World History, a Peace Corps Preparatory Program coordinator, and a coordinator for the Asian Studies program at Hiram College, in Northeast Ohio. She specializes in mass atrocities in Cold War Asia. You may read her most recent research on secular forms of grief among recent mass youth deaths in Reimagining Korea: Identity and Values in a Changing World (Palgrave Macmillan, summer 2025). Her sabbatical research on the epigenetic effects of the zainichi hibakusha in South Korea and the post-civil war Kathmandu riverine squatter communities are being considered for a broader project on the US Cold War anthropocene."
